INSTALLATION AND CARE INSTRUCTIONS
MEREDITH COLLECTION
Please read these Installation and Care Instructions carefully before you begin installation. This information will help insure life-long enjoyment of your Meredith Collection tiles.
DAMAGE/FREIGHT CLAIMS
Please inspect all material for damage. If you find extensive damage, contact your freight carrier and file a claim. If replacement tiles are required, please contact your place of purchase immediately.
GROUT JOINTS, SETTING MATERIALS & METHODS
We recommend a 3/16" to' 3/8" grout joint -depending
on the design. We also recommend you use a high quality polymer modified
(Latex) Thin Set Mortar and Sanded Grout. For additional information,
please consult the Tile Council of America's HANDBOOK FOR CERAMIC
TILE
INSTALLATION.
For more information call the TCA at (864) 646-8453 or email them at literature@tileusa.com.
BLENDING/COLOR RANGE
MEREDITH ART TILE and IRON GATE TILE glazes vary in a range that is compatible with our samples. We suggest that all the tile be laid out in order to balance the range over the entire installation area. If it is difficult to lay out the entire order, take a few pieces from each carton to check variation. This should be done prior to installation. We cannot be responsible for issues regarding color/range variation after installation.
MARKING TILES
Care should be taken during the measuring and marking process to protect against hard to remove marks and stains. We recommend masking tiles or using a pregrout coating to guard against unwanted marks.
TESTING GROUT
With all glazes we advise testing grout on tile before the installation is begun. Dark colored grouts may stain light colored tiles or matte finishes. Light colored grouts may leave a "haze" on dark colored tiles or matte finishes. Grout only small sections at a time. Remove excess grout and clean surface thoroughly
Do not allow grout to dry on tile before removal.
SEALING YOUR TILE
We recommend that a high quality penetrating sealer be used on all MEREDITH ART TILE and IRON GATE TILE before installation. Sealing is critical for Crackle Glazes - otherwise crazing lines will show stains.
CARE & MAINTENANCE
Please consult your tile installer or tile dealer regarding care and maintenance of your tile installation.
For Routine Cleaning we recommend a neutral pH cleaner that removes dirt and soil buildup from tile such as mild non-acidic and non-abrasive soap.
For Heavy-duty Cleaning we recommend an alkaline-based cleaner appropriate for degreasing and
removing wax.
